AN ANECDOTE
An Englishman went into a restaurant in China where nobody spoke English.
The waiter brought him a dish of food. It didn’t look like beef, lamb, weal or chicken. The Englishman wanted to know what it was and said:
“Quack, quack?”
The waiter answered: “Bow-wow!”
The Englishman left.

Rahman Davy is a young man from India. He was poor at home and he wanted a good job.
Four years ago he came to London and looked for a job. It was difficult to find a good job, because his English was rather poor.
Then he went to evening classes to learn English. Afterwards he got a good job.
Now he speaks English very well. Last year he started studying medicine. He wants to be a doctor and go back to India one day to help his people. Rahman and Bob are good friends. They study together.

PLASTIC STARS
He’s world-famous. His records are always in the Top 20.He’s 22 years old; he’s Bob Dunsten; and he’s star. He stays in an expensive hotel. He has breakfast in bed at noon. Outside the hotel hundreds of teenagers shout.
The Star finishes his breakfast, puts on a pink suit and combs his green hair. He talks nonsense at a press conference for thirty minutes. He has nothing to say, but the reporters write down everything.
A car arrivers at the back of the hotel. The chauffeur opens the door. The Star, his manager, his photographer, his make-up man and his thirteen-year old girls and boys listen to him. Five hundred policemen are there too.
After the concert he leaves the stadium. There’s $1000 in the manager’s pocket
